Resilience and climate change on Europe Day 9 May 2025

On 9 May, the results of the international survey on resilience and climate change carried out within the framework of the #GREENEU project of the European programme CERV, in which the Consorci de la Ribera participates, were presented at the Conference to celebrate Europe Day. The event took place in Corbera (Valencia) and was well attended with around 60 attendants. The international survey carried out throughout 2024 analysed the opinion and priorities of European society in relation to climate change. Questions were asked about circular economy, sustainable urban development, permaculture, renewable energies, energy communities and biodiversity. The main conclusions of the study are that European citizens recognise the importance of sustainability and the circular economy, but do not see it as having a very positive impact on local development and employment. Also, recycling, waste management and reducing the use of plastic are seen as the most important issues to reduce environmental impacts. On the other hand, solar energy installations are the best known but their implementation through energy communities is seen as very complicated due to bureaucratic barriers and lack of public funding. Finally, the protection of ecosystems is considered a priority by citizens, but personal actions are limited.
